Host a Fellow Athlete - Tips |
| |
Set your hosting preferences in your Profile |
| |
Now that you are considering hosting a fellow athlete, please take a few minutes to set the relevant information in the Hosting tab of your profile. Make sure you are comfortable with your choices. We also encourage you to consult with your significant other/roommate regarding the option of hosting athletes coming to your area.
Your choices will give other athletes in the AthletesBoard community and potential guests an idea of what they should expect when submitting a hosting request to you. Your choices are not an obligation to host a specific athlete and you have the option to change them at any time. 'Willing to Host' – Set this field to ‘Yes’ to indicate to other athletes in the community that you are open to consider hosting requests |
| |
- Preferred Gender – male or female, do you have a preference? Would you feel comfortable with both?
- Duration of stay – Some hosting requests may include a request to be hosted for more than just one night. Your choice reflects how long you are willing to host another athlete.
- How many athletes can you host – can you have more than one person at a time in your house? Indicate how many to make sure you get relevant requests.
- Sleeping arrangements - do you have a spare room or do you only have a vacant sofa in the living room? Put your choice in to help the other athletes understand their options
- For guest consideration - This extra field allows you to share any information you would like a potential guest to have before making a request to you. Things like pets in the household, hours of arrival/departure or any other valuable information

Hosting Safety |
| |
When considering approving a request of a fellow athlete in AthletesBoard a few things should be taken into account before making the decision. |
| |
- Feeling the pulse
Read the hosting request carefully to determine whether it was sent to you specifically and that the potential guest athlete has paid attention to the guidelines and limitations that you have specified in your profile.
- The details of the hosting request
The information submitted in the request should include the duration of stay, number of athletes in the party and the purpose of their visit to your area. After verifying that the request meets your specifications there is still a need to check that the dates are relevant and convenient.
- Who sent the request?
In the hosting request mail you will receive there is a link to the profile page of the requesting athlete. You can get to know this athlete better by reviewing his profile, his verification status and the feedback he got from other athletes. You also have the option of sending a message to some of the potential guest’s friends and ask some questions to get another opinion.

Making the decision and choosing your guest |
| |
So you have come to the final step where you need to decide which hosting request to accept. Weigh in all the factors: Are the dates convenient? Did the request qualify considering your “demands”? Are you comfortable with the potential guest’s profile?
Taking everything into account so you can make an educated decision! |

Give your guest feedback |
| |
Giving your guest feedback regarding your hosting experience would help other athletes in the future when they read the valuable information you have provided. Your guest should also give you feedback which will make it easier for you when requesting to be hosted yourself. |
